Nested inside the Ohio River Valley is a culture deeply steeped in whiskey-making know-how. It is a place where whiskey is connected to the land and is a way of life, where the lore of distilling and corn liquor has passed from one generation to the next. Our focus is on two states within the valley that have made a particularly distinguished mark on the history and production of American whiskey: Indiana and Kentucky.
“Cocktails from the Land of Bourbon & Rye” is a book currently being written by Kevin Goodman. The Land of Bourbon & Rye website will eventually serve as a directory of the imbibe culture of Kentucky and Indiana that showcases the craft bars and distilleries featured in the book.
About the Author
Kevin Goodman
Kevin holds a master’s degree in criminal justice and another in individualized studies where he created a curriculum that blended social psychology and communication studies, but he discovered his true passion behind the bar. As the lead mixologist and general manager at Hard Truth Distilling Company’s Tours & Tastings Center, he oversees cocktail development and whiskey education at one of the nation’s most visited craft distilleries. His approach combines the art of mixology with a deep respect for the history of imbibing, quality ingredients, and meticulous technique, resulting in cocktails that are both imaginative and rooted in tradition. Kevin is a Stave & Thief Bourbon Steward and a member of the Indianapolis Chapter of the United States Bartender’s Guild.
